The Typical Theme

A Resolution Independent Wordpress Theme with Microdata Support

Semantic Shortcodes

Typical supports two shortcodes 1 to make semantic content management easier. Using these shortcodes, content editors have an easier way to add <figure> and <blockquote> snippets to their content. All you have to do is supply the necessary content via the supported attributes and the structured markup is taken care of. Please refer to the below examples.

Blockquote shortcode

[blockquote quotation="Shortcodes are great!" author="Heydon Pickering" author_url="http://www.heydonworks.com"]

// Output:

<blockquote>
   <p>Shortcodes are great!</p>
   <footer>
      <a href="http://www.heydonworks.com">Heydon Pickering</a>
   </footer>
</blockquote>

Figure shortcode (with caption)

[image_figure image_url="http://www.heydonworks.com/images/portrait.jpg" alt="Portrait of The Theme Author" caption="The Theme Author, Heydon Pickering"]

// Output:

<figure>
   <img src="http://www.heydonworks.com/images/portrait.jpg" alt="Portrait of The Theme Author">
   <figcaption>The Theme Author, Heydon Pickering</figcaption>
</figure>
